I just purchased a 317 and I am needing to reduce the double action trigger pull if possible. My wife tried to shoot it and couldn't pull the trigger. I need to know if there is something I can do or do I need to take it to a gunsmith and what should I have done to it. Any help would be appreciated.I love the size and feel of the gun but the double action is so strong. .

Something is not right, they're not that bad. Call S&W customer service on monday.

I agree. Just got a new 317 last month. They have a reputation for the worst of the S&W triggers, but I'm very pleased with mine right out of the box. Matter of fact, I accidently dry fired it in the store when trying the trigger. It was much better than I expected. About the same as my broken in Taurus 85s--and I mean that as a compliment...

It it's worse than than, I'd have the S&W shop look it over.

I will give them a call and see what they say. I can shoot it but my wife likes the size pulling the hammer back also is hard for her.

Yea, what seems easy for us is sometimes hard for women (and vice versa, I am sure). My wife is a very fit triathlete, but has an extremely hard time pulling the trigger on her 60 Ladysmith. I replaced the rebound spring and it helped somewhat. Lots of dry firing helped strengthen her finger too. The dry firing may not be a good idea on the 317.
