Just picked up this 32-1 .38S&W CTG #R637XX in a trade & thought I'd share . All original & unfired in the box . Still has the Whopping $92.00 hang tag from Woolworth .

Any information would be appreciated . Thanks .

I recently acquired one of those myself. Mine dates to the mid 1960's.

I made some adjustments and gave it to my D-I-L.

These are fine little revolvers, not as sought after as the Terriers made prior to the J frame, which are smaller. The cartridge is about 125 years old, with few improvements having been made to it. Buffalo Bore makes a 125 grain LSWC that goes 800+ f.p.s. out of that snubbie barrel. These guns are strong so if you hand load ammo the cartridge becomes a whole different animal.

SCSW Ed. 3 lists R prefix serial numbers begining in 1969 with R30001-R99999 as being produced from 1970-1973...for the models 60 and 651. No mention of 32-1's but that is likely a typo.

As a teenager I bought plenty of guns from the Woolworths at South DeKalb Mall in DeKalb county, GA.

I believe there was a Woolworths at Belvedere Plaza. My old stomping grounds from 1961 until 1969, when I went into the Navy. Dean

There was a Richs and a King Hardware at Belvedere Plaza in 1970 when we moved there. My first BNIB handgun, a Ruger standard semi auto, came from that Richs. It cost me $47.50 or $49.50 plus tax.
