.32 hand ejector timing

I purchased this revolver yesterday and foolishly I didn't particularly look over the finer details of it's functioning while at the shop. Now I'm home, I am just kind of getting an overall feel of the gun. I notice that when I put the gun in full lockup (and I believe I'm doing it right by pulling the trigger and when the hammer moves freely, letting it down slowly) the cylinder wiggles slightly but it doesn't actually need to shift in order to become center with the barrel, leading me to believe that it is in time when firing DA. However when I cock the hammer SA I can rotate the cylinder counterclockwise just the slightest bit with a "click". Does this mean that the timing is off in SA only and be fine to just shoot DA, or should it not be shot at all until fixed?

I read over the faq here, but hearing so many different ways of checking timing I wasn't sure if I should go ahead and shoot or not. I apologize if this has been answered, I just want to make sure I've done it right and it's safe.

Many revolvers will seem to be "short-timed" when you baby them, or when you manipulate them without ammo in the cylinder.

I suggest that you run your tests again, but with more gusto when you pull back on the hammer, and with ammo in the cylinders. Each factor will generate more rotational inertia, and will like cause the cylinder to spin up the way it is supposed to.

There's also a very good chance that it's just a bit gummed up from 50-100 year old oil. A detailed strip and clean, paying careful attention to the hand and its travel surfaces, pluse the cylinder axel is very likely to 'fix' it.
