.32 post war hand ejector

Been on the lookout for an all original gun in .32 long for the past year or so. This little shooter was another fairly decent find on GB for $350. Somebody carried it in a holster at some point because of the holster rub on sideplate. Other than that it is in really good shape with all matching #'s including grips and will serve as an occasional shooter for me. Considering the gun is small in the hand I got really good accuracy out of it at the range. The gun seems to fit in the pure post war early improved category except for the flat latch. This one will have to do for me unless an exceptional deal falls in my lap for a better one to stash away. Thanks for looking.

Improved I frame (coil mainspring) - 1st version (1/2 round sight, no barrel rib).

Likely shipped 2nd quarter of 1953.

Probably a 4" or could still be 4 1/4"?

I swapped off that gun’s exact twin when I got my Baby Chief. I love the CS of course, but sometimes I think I should have come up with the cash to keep both. You did very well indeed.

BTW, you can change “occasional shooter” to “frequent companion” unless I miss my guess. If you already reload, you will find the 32 S&W Long to be about the cheapest and easiest caliber you’ve ever tried. Also, if you cast, there is an increasingly abundant number of moulds becoming available for it.

I’ve got an earlier one and for a little gun, they sure are neat.

Like Green Frog mentioned, reloading is the way to go. I use two bullets for loading, a full wadcutter and an imaginary Keith SWC (EK did not do a 32SWC but using his ideas one was designed. ) A tiny amount of Bullseye and you are good to go.

That is interesting. My improved I frame - pre-pre-model 30 s#581399 has the standard latch, not the flat latch.

Thanks guys and I like the pictures of your guns posted. I am a reloader and currently have a supply of projectiles for 32_20 that I reload that should work fine for 32 long also. You see in a pic that I decided to start with 32 wadcutters from Fiochi for my starting loads and can reload the 150 brass from the 3 boxes once it gets shot up. I will definitely buy some 32 wadcutte bullets too to reload.

A cousin gave me a golden bullet tub full of cast 100 grain round nose bullets. I figured that with 2.1 grains of Bullseye they would shoot to point of aim at 15 yards with my improved I frame. And they did.

Please tell us more about your SWC-weight, what type of alloy, who made the mould AND pictures please!!!

The 32 S&W L comes up over on the cast boolit forum (their spelling, not mine) a lot, and the Lee tumble lube SWC as well as the Lyman 313445 seem to get mentioned a lot. I like either one with 2.3 gr or so of Bullseye for my I-frame revolvers as well as my faux Model 16-3.

I'm with you on your choice. I don't reload but there is a reloader at my LGS that I am trying to talk into reloading .32 Long wadcutters. Until then I picked these up from Brownells.

If you shoot frequently, you will save a lot of money by hand loading....Save all your brass and you will save about $0.20 each....In my opinion, and I shoot .32 Long wadcutters in competition in my Pardini, the Fiocchi wadcutters are very accurate. By far, the Lapua Wadcutters, are the most accurate, but expensive and difficult to find.

I do use Lapua wadcutter bullets and load 1.4-1.6gr. VV-310 with Federal Match Primers. Accuracy is off the charts....literally the Pardini can shoot 1-hole groups at 20 yards, and the .32 S&W target revolvers are able to shoot 100 scores on a 50ft or 25yard target if you do your job. Recoil is similar to a .22lr.

Now the heavy .32s, like the .327 Federal, are much different, but very potent.

I do need to acquire one of those nice RP target models. Just one more to add to my list. I really never had much desire to obtain any of the .32s, until I did.

I do need to acquire one of those nice RP target models. Just one more to add to my list. I really never had much desire to obtain any of the .32s, until I did.

Terry, I know that Pardini has nothing to do with S&W. Just my feeble attempt at a bit of humor. I have admired Pardini pistols for many years, but never owned one. Had a very good friend quite a few years ago that traded his M41 (which I now own) in on a Pardini that he used as one of his Bullseye guns. I will definitely give some serious thought to your offer. OP...that's a sweet little .32. My closest serial number is 613XXX, which shipped in August of 1954. I think Hondo44 has yours nailed as shipping in 1953. I have several, and they are all sweet. Even have a little Colt "Pocket Positive" that is competitive.

Reloading...if you are using 2 gr of Bullseye...you can get 3,500 rounds from a single pound of powder!! I reload for mine, and if you cast your own bullets, a pound of lead even goes a long way!! They are wonderful little guns...enjoy!!!

Please tell us more about your SWC-weight, what type of alloy, who made the mould AND pictures please!!!

Here is the order thread for the mold. Wow, 10 years ago. It was cut by Lee and is a six cavity SWC along the lines of a Keith bullet. Target weight was 100 grains and with my alloy, spot on.

Another option for you, Night Owl Enterprise’s cuts some great molds and makes a variety of molds for the 32 handguns.

I have several NOE molds but no 32s.

As I remember, Bullseye was my powder of choice but I do not recall the weight of the charge.

I was looking at getting a gang mold for a 32 WC bullet. I may revisit that.
