just wondering if anyone can help figuring out when it was made. far as i can tell bottom but says pat june 16.96 aug 25 ept16c4.....least as far as i can tell.,i know its not bp because of the doubblesided strap for break top as to the single strap for the bp models. shoots really well an very dead on at 15ft. the magtech 85gr cronos at 500ish fps. ive reloaded with 71gr coper berrys with hp38 2.3gr to get 500fps an still dead on.....but sounds like a 22! great around the yard snake gun. its the hammerless with most of the nickel plate still there.

Post 1898 as the owl head points away from the trigger, and not towards it.

i think its 2nd gen because has double sided top break lock. all the bp ones from what ive foumd have a single sided strap for the break lock.

If you're using bp as reference to black powder then you should know that IJ didn't approve smokeless powder until their third model top break went into production. The type of top latch makes no difference, it was a change in the metallurgy of the gun that made the difference. The third model also featured the use of wire springs in place of the older flat springs of the first and second models.
