Can we have a board agreement about the .327 magnum. Every time someone mentions a gun in this caliber (or a conversion to this caliber) someone has to post "What good is the .327, what does it do that the .38/.357 doesn't."

People enjoy guns in different calibers for all kinds of reasons including the fact that the caliber may not be mainstream. So please when someone shows their new gun in a caliber you don't care for, leave the caliber discussion out of the thread.

rant off.

As has been said before, in a group this big you'll never reach complete agreement.

I don't own a 327Mag but the round intrigues me.

So, if I understand correctly, you don't want to hear anyone's opinion who isn't in love with the 327 Federal Mag? Well, OK then............

I have a ruger single six in .32 H&R mag. I think its a great cartridge. Not the .327 mag but I suppose I could have it reemed out. I am not going to though. Its a fine cartridge in its own right. Its flat shooting, accurate and next to no recoil. When I first bought it (used but new) I bought dies and reloaded for it. For no good reason I put it in the back of the safe and almost forgot I still own it. I think it should be a great trail gun. I believe I will start packing it and give it some air.

I agree completely, most of the time when somebody asks they are looking for more info on the cartridge/gun of the caliber in question. While I have a number of most of the more popular caliber handguns, I along with several close shooting buddies are always looking at something new or improved. The 32's ,while not all together new, have a lot to offer, ie. they are interesting. That alone is enough reason not to rain on somebody else's parade.

From what I have read, (Not personaly experienced) they claim the .327 mag and even the H&R mag is as good as the .38 special as far as killing power. A lighter but faster bullet. In my limited experience with mine, I would say the non recoil is a big plus for some but they do have a more unpleasant ear ringing blast. They are accurate and flatter shooting.
I think a snubby in one is a good choice for anyone recoil shy. Only trouble would be maybe they are muzzle blast shy too.

It usually is a reply something like "A solution to a problem that doesn't exist" or some such trivial drivel.

As mentioned before. I like the 327 Fed Mag in a 6 shot Snub with no IL. I have do a lot of chronograph testing with a lot of handloads and factory loads,

No, I do not agree with the advertizing that it has 357 Mag potential. But it is at least equal to or better than a 9mm and it's in a revolver. I have the same size gun 640 in 357 Mag and it is brutal to shoot. The 327 is much easier to control with 115 gr Gold Dots

It ain't Leroy Browns 32 gun in his pocket for fun.....;)

Is that steel, aluminum or titanium?

I have a 332. Titanium J in 32 H&R, and it kicks MUCH harder than any of my aluminum J 38s. Logic says a 327 has more recoil that a 32 H&R, so the only way I can see that it is easier to control is if it is a heavier gun.

You have my sympathy but I'm too busy worrying about the 17 mach 2 disappearing to think about the 327.

I've got a 327 on order. It will be my first. Lipseys has commissioned a seven shot Ruger Single Six in stainless steel. I'd like mine in 4 and 5/8 please.

Like Cricker, I also have a couple of Ruger Single Sixes in 327 on order from Lipsey's. Mine are ordered with a 4 5/8 and a 5 1/2 inch barrels.

Well, that is just plain bad manors right there. But you get all kinds of opinions here and some people like to run down cartridges, models, manufacturers, you name it. 327 mag, didn't S@W discontinue that awhile back because sales were slow. And don't those pop up on the auction sites selling for a premium because it's a rare bird? I wouldn't let that become a burr under your saddle amigo, some people have never even owned one so how would they know? By the way, if S@W ever made a revolver in 30 Carbine I would have to have one. Now that would be an odd ball for sure.

Had a Ruger with 7 1/2 " barrel in .30 Carbine. Loud as ever and a good recoil.
