340 M&P: pics added

M&P 340 with Delta Ergo grips. Very ugly; but feel great.

I'm pretty much completely self-defense oriented. It might offer some advantages during range time, but otherwise I think it a overall hindrance in the context of personal defense.

One evening there was a loud bang(turned out to be a shelf falling)from our bathroom. I waited a few seconds and when I heard no farther sound or movements and then went to check it out. I had a 340 M&P on me and it was completely dark in the hallway and the bathroom. As I was moving and trying to see through the darkness, I found that night sight terribly distracting and that it interfered with my night vision. I also noticed it even back lighted me to a minor degree in total darkness.

In a civilian self-defense scenario, you most likely won't even use the sights at all. Threat focused shooting is the norm and preferred as they happen at extremely close quarters, so why have a more expensive night sight with a slightly higher profile that emits radiation(no matter minimal) when I see it as a disadvantage. Good luck brother. I like my XS sighted revos. I'd bet on them every time. Front lit...not backlit and minimally. Koolaid stains the lips...sip carefully.

Is that Speer .357 the 135gr. short barrel load that runs in the neighborhood of a .38/44?

Truthfully, I can't remember!
I run 38+P through this revolver, but had 4 cartridges in my nightstand drawer......and thought the nickel casing looked cool in the pics! (since then, I've bought the Speer 38+P, which also have the nickel casing)

My experiences with the BB 158 +P are similar. A bit too much recoil in my 642 for (reasonably) fast follow up shots.

Its a different story in my 640-3. The extra weight of the steel dampens the recoil, plus this round clocks at just over 1000 FPS from the 640.

I have the 305 crimson trace grips on my 340pd which is even lighter, and .357's are not an issue. No pain at all. Not sure I'd want to touch off a .357 if it were wearing the model 105 grips.

Okay. :D Just wondering how they handled in a sub pound J.

I would guess you already have an idea.;) But, they aren't too bad. Especially, if you shoot a few cylinders of 125gr full house loads to warm up. :D I forgot 38 Special ammunition that night.

If you can handle the Buffalo Bore +Ps in a 642, you can handle 'em.

I like the steel cylinder and front sight of the M&P over the PD but would never carry a gun marked "military and police" when I am neither.

Well not to beat the proverbial dead horse, but I've got two 1911's: one proudly marked Colts Government Model, the other, Lightweight Commander Model.

I also considered dumping 'em - due to truth in advertising issues, but naw...

This little gem - although not so marked, is in fact a Model 64-3 Military & Police...
