340PD Silvertip 357 bullet unseating under recoil

Super Glue

Has anyone tried using a small amount of superglue to try and keep the bullets from unseating?

Winchester contacted me and they are going to check out these rounds. More to follow...

I promise you, from my experience of having been assigned to the NYPD's Firearms & Tactics Section (sgt & lt, ran the Police Firearms Instructors School, Heavy Wpns Tng & Research & Testing) Winchester will determine that there is nothing wrong with the ammunition.

I have sent them back (they ALWAYS want the pblm back) some absolute trash they sold us. It was never their ammo's problem.

Once we got a bad batch of wadcutter ammo (used at the time for qualification). By the time we figured out that the complaints from the officers weren't due to their lousy marksmanship but rather the crappy ammo (which was hard pressed to hit, anywhere, on a silhouette target at 25 yds) we were down to the last case. Winchester wanted us to send it back. I kept it for ''show & tell'' as a bad example!

I don't have it in front of me, but S&W recommends that the Scandium 357s do NOT shoot loads heavier than 125 gr in full house 357 loads. They warn heavier bullets will pull out after several shots just as the OP has shown. Being so lightweight, the inertia is equivalent to using an inertia bullet puller to disassemble loaded ammo. We guys gotta read the instructions!

Are you certain of this? I did not read the book the same way in which you have read it.

I read the book and didn't see that either. I have not tried to glue the round and honesty doubt that would help! I can still feel all the nerves in my hand and need some new 357 to test out for carry.

Winchester PDX1

I picked up some Winchester PDX1 357 125 grain ammo, and fired 15 rounds yesterday. The inertia did lengthen the 5th round in each cylinder, but not enough to cause a stoppage. The recoil was spirited to be sure, but not painful or unmanageable.

The imprint on my 340PD says to not use any round UNDER 120-gr. This is on the barrel itself.
