351PD Thoughts ?

My initial experience has been dismal. LGS urging me to practice with it before saying good-bye. Don’t think I could trust it beyond six feet.

I love revolvers (my EDC is an M&P 340), but I had to sell my 351PD soon after I bought it due to the extremely heavy trigger. Now, S&W revolvers in general aren't known for their light triggers, but normally there are steps you can take to lighten them without adversely affecting performance. Not so with the rimfire models, however -- too many light strikes lead to major reliability issues. Some get used to the trigger, but I decided many years ago never to own a firearm I had to fight.

The problem with a lot of the Rimfire current S&W revolvers is not that the triggers are heavy. That is just a Rimfire thing. The problem is being both heavy and horrible. I have two 351c’s I hand selected. Triggers are heavy and they have been gone through to clean them up enough to be quite shootable. Got rid of my 43C for timing issues. Most of these should just come with a return tag. The exception I have found are the 317’s tend to be really good and with decent triggers which I think using the Bodyguard hammers helps with. If you get a good one and run high quality ammo like Gold Dot or Punch in them they are very viable.
