.357 Sig

The NMSP went to 357 SIG after the 45 ACP and were well satisfied except for ammo cost. After a few years, the bean counters won and they've turned to the 9mm with mixed terminal results. Just like in 1990-1992 when they tried 9 before and quickly swapped out new 5906s for new 4506s.

I think the whole switching of calibers is just people making money in the Law Enforcement Industrial Complex.

We had no failures with 357 125 grain JHPs; the first 3 9mm shootings with sold, mid-torso hits were failures. The Chief listened to the troops; the switch to 4506 resolved the issue. Likewise, when the 4506s were getting aged, the 357 Sigs had no failures. The 9mm reintroduction after 20 years was about ammo cost. Period.

I have run into a store and grabbed boxes of 357 on 3 separate occasions. On one occasions I asked that clerk at a small gun/pawn shop if they had any 357 JHP self-defense ammo during the whole COVID/Floyd era, and had one box left that he threw in a bag.... Needless to say, now I have a bunch of 357 sig ammo and no guns chambered in that caliber, as I really wanted 357 magnum, but I was paying attention.

I think the gun God's were sending me hints. I just need to choose a platform now.

The beauty of .357 SIG is that most .40cal pistols can be converted with nothing more than a drop in barrel. Glocks and M&Ps are the easiest because they use the exact same recoil springs and they're widely available from a number of manufacturers.

I've finally got one of my own!

My brother just presented me with a truly splendid Birthday Gift, a KKM .357 SIG Conversion Barrel for my Smith & Wesson M&P40 Compact.

I bought him one last year on his Birthday for his Glock 22, so he decided to return the favor.

Hopefully it will "run." The NC State Highway Patrol equipped its Troopers with the S&W M&P in 357 Sig and they never could get them to work reliably. They were quickly replaced by Sig P229's and S&W quietly dropped the 357 Sig from the M&P line.

I am quite curious about a 1911 in .38 Super but the fiscal reality of what it would take it not wise.

If you want a 1911 with 357SIG performance and 38 SUPER capacity, 9x23 Winchester is the way to go

I built this one back more than 25 years ago

This cartridge will easily move a 125 grain jacketed projectile out of the 5" 1911 in excess of 1450 feet per second

I currently have 5 firearms chambered in 9x23 Winchester with 2 of them being Smith and Wesson Model 627 revolvers

I am a fan of the .357 Sig. Buffalo Bore ammo is the real deal as well. Yes, it is expensive. I feel my life and the lives of the ones I love are worth the money. Your mileage may vary.

Uh-oh, now you've done it... Statements such as this tend to provoke insecure responses about how .357 SIG is no more effective than such-and-such cartridge that just so happens to cost substantially less money.

I had a Glock 33 for a long time, 357SIG, of course. Shot it, reloaded for it, carried it IWB. In that gun, the recoil was straight back into the palm of my hand. Well, almost, very little perceived muzzle flip.

Have fun with it.

I have heard that Speer is no longer going to make .357 sig ammo... I am pretty upset and not too sure how accurate this is but I own 10 handguns in this caliber and its on my hip as my EDC.... You cant go wrong with 357 sig, 10mm and 41 magnum

Norton is that a Nightmare Fastback Carry???? Is that a Wilson Combat 9mm magazine or a 40 S&W magazine?? What is your go too mag for .357 sig in 1911 platform

Since we are comparing .357 Sig to .357 Magnum can somebody please post velocities of the .357 Sig with 158 and 180 gr. bullets?
