I recently saw one in a picture that appeared to be stainless with a barrel like this design.
9203cb9f681d1bbf35941662cf2f2ab2.jpg

With Combat Grips like shown on my 625-3.
The barrels that I have seen, all have the full under lug barrels.
Is what I saw a unicorn?

I believe that there were several Lew Horton special edition runs that were factory shipped with round bottom wooden Combat stocks, too.

Correct
I believe it was the 24-3 that was the first S&W to be adorned with combats, circa 1983. The LH 2.5” 686 no dash is another 357 so equipped.

I think I found the unicorn. I’m not that well informed about the various models. So in my searches and looking at 100’s of internet pics. I believe what I am looking for is model 66.

I think it’s a k frame, round butt, model 66 3” barrel. With Combat grips.

I thought it was a n frame with a round butt.
But I believe I was mistaken. Sorry, Glad you all posted some beautiful guns.

Papa

Many models of Smith and Wesson revolver have shipped from the Factory with this style of grip.

Most all of them have been snub nose. Versions were availble for all three grip frames

The factory offered both round butt and square butt versions of these combat grips as accessories across many years

I am a big fan of the round butt combat grips and have put them on many of my revolvers

The first One,
It’s incredibly beautiful! Is that a model 66? 2 3/4” barrel.
BTW They all are very Nice! Thanks for showing them.

Thank you for the kind words

Yes that is a 2 1/2" Model 66

Here is a more recent image of the other side

I have always liked the proportions of the 2 1/2" model 19/66 quite a bit

The older Factory combat grips fit my hand very nicely. Many grips that have finger grooves are not well spaced for those of us that have big paws on the ends of our arms

Sadly, I led you all astray.
I finally was able to visually see the .357.
It is in my brother’s possession, and we did a video chat as he inspected it.
It’s is a model 686-4,
Looks like a 2” barrel.

Ah
2.5” 686, a very desirable piece. Since the -3 was the last iteration to come with wood combats, it can be assumed your combats were exchanged for the rubber hogue grips.

The pre lock/mim 2.5” 686 is one of my favorites.

I know this is an older thread but I need some info. Colt SAA, you show a pic of a model 66 with a beautiful set of combats. I just found a nice used set almost exactly the same grain and color. My question is, what is the wood they are made from?
Thanks, Karl...
