357sig 4006/1006 update

Shadow,

It would also be an easy matter to run a 9x25 Dillon reamer into one of these 357 Sig barrels and have another 9x25. About 90% of the work would already be done.

Just a thought.

And if it gets close on the numbers, I'd also take another barrel for the 1006. I'd convert it to 9x25, since I've already got the reamer......

Fred

Reloader Fred, I already have the Bar-Sto 9x25 Dillon Match Grade and am using it with the S&W1006, in fact I will be testing some 9x25 dillon rounds tommorrow that I handloaded.

Yes the 357 Sig barrels could be reamed to the proper chamber for the 9x25 Dillon. It is a neat round to shoot, Double Tap does have ammunition for both calibers with good specs.

I need the 357Sig barrels for the 1006/1026...
One day maybe a group buy could be done for the 40S&W or 357Sig barrels for the 4.25" pistols to fit the 1066,1076, 1086, If I hit the lottery I buy them myself and then sell them out right. Wish me LUCK!
Look here.

Shadow,

I forgot you had that barrel for the 1006. I was probably thinking it was for something else, since I made mine for a Witness from a spare .38 Super barrel.

I've got a Springfield XD and a Witness in 357 Sig, so a barrel in that caliber would be a good match for my 1006. I'd really like a 357 Sig barrel for one of my 4006's, though.

4.25 barrels

Shadow 1006

keep me informed on the 4.25 barrels! i would buy one in 357, 40 & 9x25 myself. hopefully something for the 4.25" barrels will spark interest.

Just figured I ask, but have you tried any other companies? EFK FireDragon, Storm Lake, or KKM Precision. I know Storm Lake does M&P barrels.

Keep trying for 50, but if one of these other companies need less, or are willing to do different setups (there is interest in .40 and 9x25mm), might be a better route.

The reason I went to BarSTo w/ this is I know they used to make bbls. for the 4006 & 1006. The other companies, to my knowledge, never did. Worth a contact though. I did ask if they would do less bbls. for a slightly higher cost but was told 50. We'll see. I will contact the other makers & ask. We have 15 comitted for the 1006, maybe more if they would consider the 40 as well.
thanks

There is a possibility they may make them in both calibers, since the outside contour is the biggest machining chore. The boring, rifling and chambering are rather simple, after the outside contour is cut. Irv Stone is fairly reasonable, but they stay pretty busy.

Hope this helps.

Fred

Ok Mike, you are down for one.
SB, I checked w/ the other bbl. makers & they do not produce any bbls. for the older S&W.
Fred, I'll check on the chambering, maybe we can add 40 to the list for the 1006 in one order.

Try 9x25mm, as well.

If they allowed those three calibers (.357 SIG, .40, and 9x25mm), I'd buy three. One in each caliber.

I've also got a 1006; I'd like to get a .357 Sig barrel - and a .40 S&W also, if that pans out.
Put me on the list, too.

project dropped

Sorry guys. After talking w/ Rebekah @ BarSTo about adding 40 bbls. to the list, she onforms me she has made a mistake & missed the part in my opening e-mail request for bbls. to be made in 357sig. I still can't figure out how that little piece of info slipped by her since that was the original request! So we are off the group by for the BarSto bbls. If I can find someone else that will actually commit to making them, I'll try again.
regards fred

Damn it!

I was looking for this to happen, Bar-Sto is on my PooPoo list! Their business tactics are causing me to re-think using any of their products in the future.

Oh well better luck next time! I sure wish Storm Lake would produce barrels for the S&W 10xx series, I have seen some nice work from them for my Glock.
