I have been looking at Model 36s and I see some that are 36 no dash with pinned barrel and then I see some later guns that are pinned...based on pics on-line and some that I have handles...is there a rule for when they did or didn't have pinned barrels?

Thanks

The model stamped 36s were made from 1957 to 1988, so many more pinned barrel examples than not out there.

Thanks for clearing it up...I am looking at pictures of a no dash and while I can't be sure from the pics I have it sure looks like there is no pin. but I am looking for an older one...so I'll keep looking.

According to SCSW, the pinned barrel was dropped from the 60 in 1982. There are Model 60 no dash guns with non-pinned barrels. The dash 1 was a very, very limited run of 3" guns, and the dash 3 was also some kind of limited run. The dash 3 was intro'd in 1988.

All this per SCSW 3rd edition, page 223. (I ain't no expert.)

The model 60 was from 1965 to '88, so also about 6 years with unpinned barrels.

There were two 60-1s, a pinned barrel 3" from 1972 and a 2" Target sight version from 1985. The 60-3 replaced the model 60 in 1988.
