Thanks for the info on the ammo issue. I did know that the SA Police once issued the Webley auto chambered for the 9mm Browning Long.
Was there also a military issue of that gun?
What do the police and military there use now? I know that some Beretta M-92 and Beretta copy (Z-88) pistols have been used, but that was a few years ago.

Every reference, including Webley's 1926 (?) calalogue is wrong about SAP issue. The pistol was purchased and issued ONLY by the UDF (army and air force). I have a great deal of information from the UDF archives and can categorically state that this is the case.
The SAP are still using the Z88, but also have a number of other pistols, about which I know little; likewise the SANDF. I must make some enquiries!
Not my country actually. Well that is not quite correct; I am English, but have been here for 30 years, and the country I grew up in has ceased to exist. Neither I nor my handgun collection will be going there in the foreseeable future.
