.38 ammo prices!

Although some of the reloaders here are having a hard time moving on after being repeatedly told we have no interest in reloading.

Dave what I think the problem is that some people do not understand collectors, shooters, concealed carriers and the other sub-groups of the 2A Community.

I don't understand people who buy a gun and then never shoot it. But then I am sure people do not understand why I shoot every month at a minimum.

So it is, what it is.

I am 68 years old and have been a handgun shooter since I was about 11 years old, and .38/357 factory ammo has always been high-priced. And when I was younger there were many more .38 and .357 revolver owners than now. But they did not shoot their guns very much because of the cost of the ammo. A box or two of factory ammo would last them for years.
No one I knew reloaded ammo at all, or even knew anything about it until about the early 1970's. That's when I started loading my own.

So anytime in the last sixty years did you hear about the National Police Shooting Championship?

The 60th National Police Shooting Championships (NPSC) will be conducted by the Mississippi Highway Patrol Pistol Team at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in Pearl, Mississippi. National Police Shooting Championships | Law Enforcement Firearm Competitions

As I remember, the .38 Special was the cheapest centerfire ammunition. .45 ACP was affordable if you bought Military Surplus at the Army Navy Store. 9mm was high because if no surplus ammo was available the Remington Commercial was twice as much as .38 or .45.

Lots of old time shooters, Walter Walsh, Elmer Keith, Jeff Cooper, Bill Jordan, Dean Grinnell, Skeeter Skelton, Bart Skelton, Ed McGiven, John Taffin, Duke Venturino and Charles Askins.

Some people go shooting and others go fishing or whatever.

I was at Bass Pro in Las Vegas today. Big supply of Winchester 38 special 130 grain FMJ.
Box of 50 $29.99
Box if 100 $61.99
100 rounds SUCH A DEAL!!
That's always been one big disadvantage of buying factory ammo for target shooting/ plinking. We are stuck with buying something like this 130 gr. FMJ ammo in .38 SPL. Not only is is expensive, it isn't what I want.
