An old time officer told me once that the 200 grain Super Police was very popular in the 1960's, but the actual performance was based on hype. The 200 grain load popularity ended when Super Vel Ammo came on the scene and proved itself on the street.
A few years ago I came across I torn up partial box of Winchester 200 grain Lubaloy loads in .38 Special. I wished I had did some penetration tests or at least chronographed the load. The load grouped very high, but tight, at 25 yards, and the recoil was mild.
