38 vs 357 - risk factors

WW 110 defense load good in snubbys. If want more horse power and less recoil you need to pony up to a 686-6, 3" with 125gr. 357 magnum loads. Any less of a 357 magnum is hard to shoot good with full power loads. In the 640 the 110 gr. Ww personnel defense is tops for the light 640 snubby. I like the 686 7 shooter 3" with the 640 back up in off hand pocket and 686 on right hip in galco combat master pancake. What am I worried about, not a darn thing!!

Buffalo bore chronographs many of their 38 loads out of the model 60 with a 2 inch barrel. Today I shot five of their heavy 38+ P1 58 grain LSWCHP. This is the hottest 38+p I have fired, or at least the most severe recalling in my 340, next to the full power 357 loads. Buffalo bore says it makes over 1000 ft./s out of the 2 inch barrel. That's 350 foot pounds of muscle. That's about all I care to shoot out of this 11 ounce gun and would probably be more comfortable to shoot a gun weighed 16 or 17 ounces. It did annoy the healing wound I have my trigger finger knuckle from shooting the 357 rounds.
