I recently picked up a near new non Novak 3904 in great shape. One thing I can’t stand are the sights. Rather than try and get trijicon to make a set of SA05’s I was wondering if a model 909 slide would drop on and function properly? Also other than 3904/06 magazines do 909 mags interchange? Thanks and happy holidays!

909 has those rubbish plastic sights and while the rear can be swapped to a steel sight, the front with that immense dovetail cut in the slide cannot. A 915 would be a better fit/choice but then you're back to the old style backsight.

On the other hand. It takes about two minutes to perform a very minor machine op to fit a factory steel Novak backsight to your 3904.

This is on a 669, same op would apply to a 3904 with the old sight. The base dovetail cut is the same as the Novak.

Any local machinist or gunsmith with a mill can do that in a couple minutes.

Cheers

At some point, Trijicon started considering the 3904/3906 as compact pistols rather than the full-size pistols that they are. They actually use the SA04 sights contrary to what the website might indicate. They had it right back in the day.

Fantastic info gents. Thank you. I was considering a complete 909 parts kit because they are dirt cheap and available but yes the front sight is still that abomination of a dovetail. But it is still better than the fine sight that came on the 3904. Then there was finding an adjustable sight slide but those toe for what I paid for the pistol. *edit* I just ordered a set of SA04’s so I think this should satisfy my requirements for a more robust and visible set of sights. I have novaks on my 4516 and while fine I like the ledge a standard sight set gives me. My 645 on the other hand has similar sights to the 3904 and I have no issue with those so it is just the minuscule sights on the one.

Another question. Would a single sided safety and spurless hammer from like a 908 fit the 3904? I want to start carrying it as a ccw piece and a spurless hammer would prevent snagging and the single sided safety would make it even slimmer.

Yes, they will. Also, make sure the pistol has an updated post-recall grip. Look for the dimple on the bottom.

Just a heads up, I bought night sights from trijicon I planned to put in my 3913, but the gunsmith had a hard time taking the factory novak sights off, we didn't force it. I'm gonna refund the night sights.
