I've primarily owned Glocks and seem to function well with long periods between cleaning.

I'm just curious if a 3913 requires a little more love and care.

Admittedly though, the fit and finish on a 3913 seems to leave a desire to give it more attention just because of the color. Black hides a lot more and the 3913 definitely gets a wipe-down at least after but tends to demand a cleaning especially around the front end.

my guns get cleaned as soon as I get home from a range session.....to me it's almost therapeutic ....and because I'm anal retentive;).....and if I owned a Glock it would get cleaned first....because a clean ugly gun always looks better than a dirty ugly gun:D

I don't have any scientific evidence to support this, but I firmly believe that the longer you wait to clean a gun the longer you will spend cleaning it. Especially the barrel. I'm in the "clean it as soon as you get home" camp!

The 3913 will go awhile without cleaning but she will not tolerate running dry!!! Unlike a polymar gun she will require some oil or grease on the rails to keep her performing flawless. I personally have gone back to grease as it is easier and less messy. I can't tell you how many rounds without cleaning as I also clean after every session but I have fired 500 round sessions when shooting with a group without one single failure and I am quite sure she would have kept on going but we were tired!

Several years ago I loaned my 3913 to three ladies that did not have a center fire for a class and between the three they fired over 1500 rounds without a hiccup.....NO cleaning was done ...so I know it will run that long.....probably much more it had to.

PS. I WAS tempted to put some lube on the rails....but didn't get around to it.
