ABSOLUTELY!
I just happily gave $450 for a nice 3913 with 1 mag.

Where?????

:)

Figure $50 per extra mag. ( when you can find them)..... makes it a $300 gun! I bought several "extra" 39xx guns for that price 20 years ago!!!!

There was a period (per friends who worked in LGSs) of time in the late 90s IIRC that "Fools" where trading in their 39xx's for Glock 26s. Go figure! "Used" or "unused" safe queens/ sock drawer 3913s and 3914s were selling for less than $250 with 2-4 mags! Blue 3914 were the cheapest

If we only knew. Would have bought several 10mms also.

what should the factory mags look like? two of them have red followers

7 holes staggered each side numbered to 8, red follower, - can have either flat base as shown or finger rest base. I believe there is also a 7 rd version with metal base. Almost always silver, but I have also seen a black version for 3914 that is same geometry. Beware of aftermarket mags - believe there is a ProMag version.

The ProMags I have found have ProMag stamped on the side of them and all I have seen have been blued. The Factory S&W follower and spring will work on the ProMags and seem to make them more reliable. The red followers are still available on Midway.

Seems like all factory mags I have seen have that folded looking seam on the side you see in the pictures above. The ProMags do not have that seam. Some factory mags are unmarked and some have the S&W logo stamped on them.

Based on your guys great information it looks like I have two factory mags and one aftermarket

The finger groove mag base for that factory mag is still available on Midwayusa. If you ever think you might want one, you should include it on an order from them. If like other S&W legacy parts, they will eventually dry up and you won't be able to get them. You may want to order a red follower and maybe an extra mag spring or two also.

I also put the Hogue grips on both my 3913 and 908. It adds just enough thickness to the grip to make it fit my hand perfect. The plastic grips are just too small. Also, if you like black grips better, I think they are still available. The gray grips you have are hard to find and should be kept if you choose to not use them for future or for trades. They are worth more.
