Picked this 3913TSW 9 Tactical up this morning at a gun show. Been looking for one for quite awhile in good condition. This one has no wear or rub marks to speak of. Not sure what the deal is with the blue grips, maybe one of you guys can fill me in on those. Came with one mag only, no box. Paid $544 OTD, which I thought was a pretty damn good price. Already have set of new black grips order and coming for like $21. Serial # Prefix is VJD. Anyone have any more info on this gun? Any help would be appreciated.

VJD prefix likely 2001 vintage - you scored well. I have seen several 4006 with blue grips that were used for training - one with a SIM kit.

They are nice guns, extra magazines can be difficult but are not impossible to find. I hope that it serves you well.

Nice guns, good shooters, very reliable.

Replace the recoil spring, clean it, lube it, shoot it, love it. :)

3rd Gen prices seem to be on an upswing cycle lately. Not a surprise since all gun prices seem to be up. I saw a 3913 listed at a LGS with factory box and two magazines for $699.95.

I have a CHP issued 4006TSW (nearly same gun in .40 cal). Great gun, easy shooter and one of my favorites. A little on the heavier side so it's never a EDC but I'd like to some time.

As noted, BLUE GUNS are generally used as TRAINING GUNS, whether SIMS or non-firing.

Your gun may have been used for that purpose, so I'd confirm that you gun hasn't been modified not to fire... THAT, or maybe a prior owner just liked the color!

Anyhow, great pistol- I just acquired one myself last month!

Dynamite price for sure these days. Yeah I would can those blue grips myself. Another model I would love to see made again!

Just an update. I ran a couple mags thru it the afternoon I bought it. Ordered a new set of grips. Turns out the new grips were the wrong ones, front to back, the overlapped the mag release by about 1/8". So I took some paint stripper and a nylon brush and cleaned the original grips up and got rid of the nasty blue paint. Grips were in excellent shape under the blue paint. Cleaned it and lubed it up and ran a box thru it this afternoon. Runs like a champ.

Looks good. For me though, the factory grips are too narrow for my hands. I replaced with Hogue grips and it adds just enough width to make it fit my hand nicely. Greatly improved my confidence on holding and aiming the gun. Now the Hogues on a 6904 make it too wide for me, so I kept the factory grips on my 6904.

I suspect if you start carrying this, it will become your primary EDC. I have had mine for about 2-3 years and have gotten so comfortable with it, I don't want to carry anything else. I keep wanting to carry other guns, but for some reason, I just can't.
