Came on a nice example of a 3953 today at a pawn shop. I'm liking it.

Asking price is a little lower than what I've seen on line. The night sight lamps are dead, so I'm thinking that if I go for it, I'd want to replace the lamps only, if possible.

The fixed rear sight is marked MH3 on the upper surface between the ears, no other marks visible. (Yes, the "M" is larger than the other marks.) S/N is TJB39xx.

They look like Novaks to me, but I'm clueless. Any info or guesses on the maker appreciated.

Thanks.

Just might be Trijicons. I'd give 'em a call.

I've got one with old sights also. Is the M on yours wider and bigger than the h3? The M on mine is bigger and wider and I was thinking they were meprolight. If they are trijicon, you can get the lamps replaced for $54.00.

Yes M is wider and bigger. I fear you're right about Meprolight. I'll give S&W a call, anyway. Maybe they can tell something based on the S/N.

Just looked at my serial number. It is TJB33xx. Mine is a Prince George's County trade-in.

If you get in touch with S&W, let me know what they tell you if you don't mind. Thanks.

S&W says could be either Meprolight or Trijicon...cold comfort. Meanwhile the one I had my eye on was sold. So it goes.
