Can my 3953tsw be converted to a 3913? Do I have to send it to S&W for any machining or is it just a matter of ordering the proper parts?

Why would you want to change it. The 3953 can and I mean by a qualified gunsmith be made very slick and still be dependable. In my opinion the dbl action only is the most dependable way to carry.
This is not to say condition one 1911 style autos aren't safe. but you must be proficient in their operation. Novak's in Parkersburg W Va. Actions by T Sugerland Texas and other gunsmiths have done great jobs with 3rd generation SW actions. As to your original question I don't know, call SW Performance center. If anybody would know they should.

It's an easy 2-step process.

1) Sell it.

2) Use the money to buy a 3913.

The way I understand it all the TSW series can be switched TDA-DAO pretty easy. You would most likely have to send it in to S&W to have done, they usually won't sell items that involve decock/safety.
