In regards to the 3rd gen. Smiths, I know that some have said that the yellow followers were replaced by black ones due to a design flaw. Was this strictly with the follower, or was there a design flaw in the mag body too? thanks!

It was more of a design improvement on the 4500 series. The yellow follower mags had small indents at the rear of the feedlips to help hold the rounds in. The black follower will fit those tubes but the newer tubes have a improved feedlip design. The 40 tubes started out with yellow and changed to blue, but I don't believe there was any design change to the tube or follower on them.

Do you mean the .40 yellow and blue follower is the same? Is there any reason at all to change to the blue other than color preference?
