4 29-1s

Chuck,
That is quite a set of 29's.
Do they all get shot a little or no ?
Can you give us a rough guess on total
production on all barrel lengths of the 29-1 run ?
The grips on the long barrel made my heart skip a beat.
Gorgeous.

Chuck, no, they don't get fired all that much actually. I have another shooter 29 that I have kept for just that purpose when I need to get the .44 Mag urge out of my system for the moment. :) Not too certain how many of this scarce variation were made in the different barrel lengths. My own very informal assessment would lean toward the most common being the 6 1/2", followed by the 8 3/8ths then the 5" then the 4" last. I base this on the guns that have been documented to date, around 31. This includes S228666 which has been on GB several months and no one appears to want it for unknown reasons. 6 1/2 (18), 8 3/8ths (8), 5" (2), 4" (3), (2) 4 screw nickel and (1) 3 screw blue. I put them in this order only because, so far, only (1) 4" 3 screw 29-1 has surfaced while (2) 3 screw 5" variations have turned up. Up until S220004 appeared here on the forum several years ago, it was believed that the 29-1 was only produced in the 3 screw variation, but S220004 and later S219982, both which are 4 screw nickel 4 in guns, gave those of us who collect this model hoping there are other 29-1s out there somewhere, but so far none have been found. The hunt continues. Those interested please see my commentary on the -1 variation.
