A friend is selling this very good to excellent condition 4" model 29-2.
No box or anything but just the gun. The gun probably have about 50 rds through it based on the condition. It is pinned barrel and recessed cylinder with the target wide trigger and hammer.

He did not say how much but I'm planning to offer $300 cash for it. Do you think that is too low or too much. I am not desperate to have it as I don't really have a need for a 44 mag but it would be nice to have one.

He is interested in trading it for my almost new Sig hammerlli .22 which I remember buying it for $400 few years back.

if its a trailside and he wants it you make out... I gave 500 as yours LN and no box etc and I still feel like I got a deal.

Your 300 is a low price as is the trade for a sig trailside... you win with either.

How long do you want to keep him as a friend? You better add three more Franklins to your ante 'cause, if he knows anything about the guns value, may think you are trying to steal it. We're talking 4" here which are harder to come by.

Forget the mask, I'd be wearing a bullet proof vest when making an offer like that. I'd be afraid of being shot! About twice that figure is a sincere offer.

Come on, $300 better add about $450 to your "cash" offer for a mint 4" 44 because when he finds out how much it's worth he wont be too happy with you.

I sold one about a month ago ...but it had the box and shipping box but basically mint for 700
Probably could have gotten more but this was a friend that I dont mind keeping.

Thanks guys.
Its been a while since I looked into gun prices here in the forum.
I'll just ask him how much he wants for it.

Updating this thread from 3 yrs back. I did bought it for $500 (his asking price); it came with the presentation case, tools, and papers. The case inside liner was in really bad shape so I had Joe C. here restore it :).

You got a deal. I bought one a month ago with a bit of holster wear, it was a 6" model 29-3 in the box. Doesn't appear fired much. I paid $600. I believe the 29-2 is more desirable than the 29-3. As someone mentioned, the 4" is a bit hard to find.

BTW, I bought a NOS presentation case for a 29-10 I have that had the flock coming off. I bought some auto headliner material and spray adhesive and fixed it up myself.

Would be a nice even trade.

It's worth the price of the Hammerli for sure, maybe another $100 to boot.

I bought one in Dec. on layaway and paid it out last month.
4" 29-2 from 1972. No box, aftermarket grips, and slight bluing wear.
I paid $479.

I'd say you did fine. :D
