Exactly. Though it's more of a Model 18, I suppose.Excuse my ignorance, but what is so special about this particular gun ? Seems like a modern 17 in stainless.

Well, I wish you the VERY best of luck selling it.
4" Ashland 617 Sell or Trade
Actually I have to disagree with you on this one. The ethical thing to do was to respond to my PM and sell it to me for six magic beans and my 617-4. You know how hard it is to get six magic beans???????THOSE ARE EXACTLY MY SENTIMENTS, CAJUNLAWYER......
THIS SELLER HAS DEFINITELY TRIED TO DO THE ETHICAL THING, AT EVERY JUNCTURE, OF THIS ON-GOING SAGA. IMHO, HE TRULY DESERVES TO REALIZE HIS DREAM.........

Wow. Putting aside its rarity and collector value, that revolver is a zillion times more desirable to me. No lock, and without that hideous full lug barrel?
Traded the Ashland for the 617 no dash I've been searching for. Wahooo. Went to a Forum and SWCA member so I'm sure it found a good home with someone that appreciates what it is. GB would undoubtedly have brought more money AND more hassle as well. I'm happy. I'm sure new owner will be too.....
Mike....sorry you're confused. Read original post, paragraph two, and maybe will make more sense to you. I made a deal over the phone and had to follow through on what I had agreed to.

Congrats on everything working out to your satisfaction! You may be right about GB, but like ebay, GB can be a gamble. It could have sat there for months before selling or you could have run afoul of some of the shadier characters that populate the site. You're happy, the other member is happy, win - win. The only loser is Cajun Lawyer. I agree - 6 magic beans can be very hard to come by, but you'd have to check state laws to make sure they were legal in your location. Plus California says they've been known to cause cancer in laboratory mice.Traded the Ashland for the 617 no dash I've been searching for. Wahooo.
