4" 617 Ashland. Should be elated but....

THOSE ARE EXACTLY MY SENTIMENTS, CAJUNLAWYER......

THIS SELLER HAS DEFINITELY TRIED TO DO THE ETHICAL THING, AT EVERY JUNCTURE, OF THIS ON-GOING SAGA. IMHO, HE TRULY DESERVES TO REALIZE HIS DREAM.........
Actually I have to disagree with you on this one. The ethical thing to do was to respond to my PM and sell it to me for six magic beans and my 617-4. You know how hard it is to get six magic beans???????

So sorry sir....did not see a PM from you. When I started this post there were quite a few so guess I missed it. Would still VERY much prefer a trade but only for a 617 no dash. Want a six shot to match my 686. Magic beans are cool but the cheerio seeds I bought still have not grown into doughnuts......even used Miracle Grow.

Traded the Ashland for the 617 no dash I've been searching for. Wahooo. Went to a Forum and SWCA member so I'm sure it found a good home with someone that appreciates what it is. GB would undoubtedly have brought more money AND more hassle as well. I'm happy. I'm sure new owner will be too.....

CONGRATULATIONS Jerryatric3, ITS A WIN-WIN SITUATION, WITH BOTH GUNS GOING TO GOOD HOMES......

Mike....sorry you're confused. Read original post, paragraph two, and maybe will make more sense to you. I made a deal over the phone and had to follow through on what I had agreed to.

If I make a deal, and I physically can meet my half, I'll hold it up. I don't know these guns, but I would have been happy with something that pretty and gone out to shoot it.

I once had to fail my half of a trade - was supposed to meet a kid (forum member) in West Memphis AR, but chemo had me puking on the side of the road, so he thought I didn't show up. Never got that sorted out. Should have.

Dent before dishonor.

I like a good ending to the story!!

Congrats on everything working out to your satisfaction! You may be right about GB, but like ebay, GB can be a gamble. It could have sat there for months before selling or you could have run afoul of some of the shadier characters that populate the site. You're happy, the other member is happy, win - win. The only loser is Cajun Lawyer. I agree - 6 magic beans can be very hard to come by, but you'd have to check state laws to make sure they were legal in your location. Plus California says they've been known to cause cancer in laboratory mice. :D

Quick Update

The trade on the Ashland is now a done deal. Got the no dash 617 that I've been searching for. Range time...what have I done? First cylinder grouped like my 12 gauge at 50 yards. Second six little better and the third cylinder on grouped a little over an inch at 25 yards supported on a sandbag. Guess it just needed to get over being clean.

The Ashland went to a Forum member here. He took delivery today and seems very happy with the trade. Might have gotten a couple more magic beans on GB but that still left me looking for the 4" no dash 617. Two happy campers now.....glad the Ashland found a good home.
