I have one I want to reblue but worry about them ruining the sideplate fit seam after.

It's the gun with checkered stocks in the third photo above. I've never seen a factory refinished gun with any sideplate fit issues.

I had originally opened the pics from my cellphone but didnt see the right side pics for some reason.
Im on my PC now and was able to view them.

It really depends on the skill of the person refinishing the gun, have seen many examples where the refinisher over buffs the sideplate causing a visible gap between it and the frame.

Comparing the two pics I would be very happy with that result.
While I suppose it depends on the guns condition would you care to disclose how much S&W charges for a reblue nowadays ?

Fords is not too far from where I live but I have seen examples of their work that look great and some that are over buffed.

Side plate is the first thing I look at. The subject revolver looks as though it has been handled really well. Properly , I mean.

Regarding Ford's , their once sterling reputation now seems to have some chinks in it. I have seen photos of several ... unfortunate results.
In fairness , I have no first hand experience with Ford's.

Ford's may have been going through some issues in the not too distant past, but I believe they are fully back now. I sent my 14-1 off to them in May of 2018 and got it back about 4 months later in September. I got their Master Blue done and it is simply stunning. Other form members have had recent work done that was also very satisfactory. Hopefully some of them may chime in.

The prices shown on their web site are $220 for standard blue and $275 for High Bright Polish blue.
