The 65 is a stainless steel K frame revolver chambered in .357 magnum. It was produced with 3" and 4" barrels. The 3" version has a round butt whilst the 4" version has a square butt. Both versions have heavy barrels with fixed sights. The 65 is both heavier and larger than your 36, which is a J frame.

I like mine!

This gun is very accurate and dependable. I think you would probably enjoy one if you bought it. Seems like they go a little cheaper than a lot of other S&W's.;)
Peace,
gordon

The catalog that I received at home had these 65s priced at $249. I tried to jump all over it and was told by the SOG sales rep (on the phone) that it was a misprint and the real price was $329. That is still a pretty good price, but I would have loved to grab a couple for $500.

The SOG catalog also lists them as being DAO.

Where would be the best place to find one. I have been through several gun stors and I really don't like shoping online

Police trade in

Sir what is stamped on the frame in your example. Police Department ?? or Importers data...

Thank you,

rick

It is stamped, WCS 2751, it is a police trade in in very good condition. The box has a bar code tag that indicates that it was exchanged.
65 357 4"V-EXC MKED WCS-
then below that is the serial number of the gun.
You can see it better in this pic. Didn't care for the magnas and went to targets for my hand size. I use those grippers during deer season.
a real coincidence is that the letters and numbers right below the top bar code match my forum name pretty much. It is: SMI65GT. cool huh:cool:
Peace,
gordon

That's a good looking, clean 65. I carried a 3" RB as a Deputy in the 80's. I may have to look into getting another one. They are rock solid and accurate.

My new old 65-3 4" 357

Just purchased this nickel 65-3 4" barrel with new polish from Gunbroker. Will post updates after it arrives.
