Been hard at work working up loads for my .40 S&W with 155gr XTP,s. Have had great luck with both Power pistol and Longshot, so far the two best powders that I've tried. Now what I'm wondering about is which one gives off the least amount flash or is there a powder that compares to the
two I'm using that is better at keeping the flash down.
TX. in advance.

I haven't tried Longshot in handguns yet, but nothing I've ever tried has as much muzzle flash as Power Pistol. I love it, but only for hot practice ammo! Longshot gives me awesome ballistics in my .460 Rowland Carbine with just a hint of muzzle flash in dim light, I fear it might also be pretty offensive out of a short barrel. Let us know if you try it.

I have found the slower powders like longshot - AA #7 - Bluedot seem to have the most flash - especially when fired in shorter barrels. Have never used Power Pistol but it is a little slower than AA #5 - Unique - Universal - all of which work very well in the .40 and from what I have found the flash is not as bad. Velocity may be a few fps higher with the slower powders but you have to use more, and if flash is a concern they are worse.
