First off, I am not trying to start another thread regarding the mag drop problem of the shield. I am trying to find out who has had this problem fixed, and how? I have reviewed the multiple threads about the problem, but know I think we need to focus on the solution!

My shield drops the 7 round mag quite often. I purchased the pistol about 3 weeks ago and just sent Smith and Wesson an Email regarding the problem.

I am interested in seeing who has had this problem fixed, and what happened to fix it.

Thank you.

Not sure there is a fix yet. A mag catch with slightly more engagement surface would seem to be in order. Hopefully S&W has something in the pipeline.

Fortunately, my Shield 40 seems to be ok. Hopefully it will stay that way.

stand by, waiting on email reply from s&w on the very same problem.

Heard some people having luck with filling magazine and letting it sit a couple days to loosen up the spring.

Not sure how that would work but I guess it's easy enough to at least give it a try!

I did that prior to having the issue. My shield is currently at the factory for repair. I have seen a few people saying that they sent theirs in and when it returned, it was still malfunctioning.

Who has sent their shield in for repair for the mag drop issue and had it returned without a problem? I will update when mine returns!

Mine is at the factory, but i'm not optimistic. I left my mags loaded for a month. Didn't help. They need a new mag catch with more engagement, but that will take a while and will be expensive. In the meantime, I'm sure that they will replace mag catches with new ones to the same specs and string us along for a while.

Mine has been at the factory two weeks. Haven't heard a thing. They first sent me a replacement magazine catch, but it was the wrong part for the gun. I would not recommend doing anything but sending it back. It obviously is a recognized problem that needs a proper fix. My magazines never fit snugly from the start. The short one didn't drop but the longer one did pretty regularly.
