Hello,

Does anyone have or know where to specifically look for the dimensions (L" x H" x W") of the 4013 (w/o rail) and 4040? I've done multiple searches on here, Google and Yahoo but without the answers I'm looking for.

I'm trying to convince my brother this is what he wants for a concealed carry .40S&W with manual safety to replace his XDsc. I'm pushing these over the M&P40c w/ Thumb Safety because I think he needs the extra heft of rugged, reliable American metal. Same reason I'm having him turn away from the HK USP Compact, Beretta PX4 Storm SC, CZ 2075 RAMI, EAA Witness, etc. So please help me!

Thanks. -WS

I don't have the exact diamenions right now, but the original 8rd. non-TSW 4013 is based on the 4513. The 4040PD is based on the 3913NL and is slightly smaller all around.

I just measured my 4040PD and it is 7 inches long, by 5 1/4 inches tall (flat plate magazine inserted), and a little over 1 inch wide if you use the hogue grips. It has a 3.5 inch barrel and is an awesome handgun.

I appreciate the info Firebird.
If you could, Enfield, I'd still like to see your specs.

Do either of you have any other compact/subcompact/CCW handguns you can compare it to dimensionally?

The 4040, 4013TSW, 6906 and 3913 all share the same slide diamentions and run right at 6.75" overall length and 5.125" height from the finger rest mags to the top of the slide. The 4040 with the Hogues is 1.140" wide the 6906/4013TSW run 1.125" with stock grips. The original 8rd single stack 4013 is 7.5" long with a slightly thicker slide, not sure on the height. The M&Pc is 6.75"x4.9"x1.2" and 22oz. about the same as a 4040 in weight, the others run around 26oz. The PC Shorty-Fortys are the same as the early pre-rail 4013TSW(98-99) but can get pricy. I've shot all the models and find the 4040PD to have the most felt recoil, more so than the M&P. I actually find little differance in recoil between the M&P and the 4013TSW pre-rail models.

That's exactly what I needed HG. Now I just have to pique his interest in the pre-rail 4013TSW and M&P40c with safety over the HK USP40 Compact. Thanks for all the help guys.

I believe the width of the 6906/5906/4006 guns with the stock grips is approximately 1.26" The 3913 guns which are single stack are about 1.06". I have a 4046 and I have measured the width of the grip. If you look at the frames of the double stack guns you can see the amount that was added to each side to increase the width for the magazine. It is certainly equal to more than .06".

I agree with FirebirdV8, my 4040 is an awesome gun. I also agree that it shoots a little harder than the others....... so a larger, heavier frame might be in order under the conditions you describe. JMO

Please forgive my complete ignorance, but I've read posts before saying that the 4013TSW and the 6906 frames were "identical." Does that mean one could use a 6906 with any 4013 slide to make a double stack 4013? Or was the word IDENTICAL taken to literally.

Also do the 4006 magazines work in the 4013tsw in the same manner as the 5906 mags do in a 6906?

The 40TSW slide might fit the frame but like the full size, the 40 mags have a dimple on the front of them to keep them from being inserted into the 9 frame. Now unlike the full size, the 9 mags do fit the 40TSW frames. And yes the 4006 mags do fit the TSW compacts.

I liked my 3913 so much I decided I had to have a 4040 PD. Finally found a like new in box gun a couple of years ago and paid the slightly high tariff to purchase it. I really like the gun but shooting it can best be described as abrupt. You definitely know you have touched something off and I am not that sensitive to handgun recoil. That said, I have not shot it much and still carry the 3913. I will work with the 4040 and hope to bring it up to main concealed carry status someday.

I have a post rail 4053 TSW. Do your comments mean it has lighter recoil that than a pre-rail? If so - Shazam! I scored!
