Can anyone tell me what slides and mags are interchangeable with the 4013TSW? I am looking at purchasing one and if the option to ever be able to put a 3913TSW or 5906TSW slide on it might be nice as a cheaper ammo alternative for the range.

I've considered this and have looked into options. A 5906TSW slide is nearly identical to the 4006TSW. My 4006TSW CHP will accept a 4013TSW slide with no issues fitting, and my Shorty Forty will accept the 4006TSW slide with no issues. The 3913TSW slide will technically fit the frame rails, however, the front rail guides on the dust cover of a 40XXTSW series gun will not interface properly with the slide due to the 3913TSW slide being narrower at that portion. Uneven contact could cause an issue

The Shorty Forty will not take 6906 mags as the magwell was machined differently, however i believe they updated it to take both when they started making 4013TSWs.

The bigger potential problem is that the full size TSW guns are supposed to have altered barrel cam geometry to unlock later, and the angle of the full size barrels may present an issue in the compact frames, which do not(?) utilize that same unlocking angle. My 4006TSW with 4013TSW slide appears to function with the other barrel but the inverse may not. I have also not live fired it in that configuration and do not plan to

I will note that another forum member, Heymatt, has done the inverse with a Shorty 9 slide on a 4046 frame, and had no issues regarding barrel geometry. A Shorty 9 slide would really be perfect for this but unless you have a donor gun, finding one will be near impossible

I feel like I am learning more and more about 3rd gen Smith's. I thought a shorty 40 was a 4013/4013TSW. What is a shorty 9?

The Shorty Forty is a Performance Center model, and is the basis for what would become the 4013TSW, but they are different guns. The 4013TSW can generally be viewed as a production version of the Shorty Forty. The Shorty 9 is essentially the same gun as the Shorty Forty, but chambered in 9mm and uses 6906 mags.

Ok, I took it completely apart. Removed all of the rust, grime and making sure everything function checks. I guess my question is about the finish. The beaverton is scarred up pretty good. What can be done to clean it up?

Will a 6904 slide work on a 4013TSW? Also, if my S/N starts with BDX, what year was it manufactured?

In general TSW slides will not work on non-TSW frames because the rail geometry of the TSW frame / slide tend to be slightly different geometry to make the TSW more robust / heavier duty.

BDX most likely 2006- 2007 but best to check with SW - if you email model and full serial number they will give you "manufacture date" which may actually be more like date boxed or date shipped, but that is still your best source of date.
