40C spring paint?

just bought a new 40C, shot a few boxes and stripped it to clean. The recoil spring end looks like it was dipped into paint or some sort of coating.

Never seen this on my other S&W's or Glocks, any idea why this was done or should I call the factory and ask for a replacement?

Probably just put there for assembly reasons. It's easier to see where the yellow paint is than checking which side goes towards the front when you do 1000 per day

Both my 40c and full size have the yellow paint.

that's normal on M&P, it will wear off after a while.

Different colors identify different pistol spring assemblies.
