40c trigger double reset?

I just picked up a 40c on the used market and noticed immediately that it has what I could call a double reset. When releasing the trigger after it breaks, there's a bump that feels like a reset but isnt, then the actual reset further out. Is this something that goes away with time or am I going to have to get some sort of trigger upgrade to get rid of it? It also seems like the reset is a lot longer than it was on my Glock.

Remove the slide. Pull the trigger fully back and hold. Push the trigger bar to the right, so that the sear loop is pushed clear of the sear. Release the trigger bar and slowly release the trigger and watch what happens. You should get only one "click/jump" as the loop resets under the sear. Continue to release the trigger until fully out. You should have felt/heard only one reset. If you got two, you should be able to see what caused both.

If you only got one, then you know the second is being caused by something in the slide. My guess is the reset tab on the trigger bar is causing the first "bump", as it clears the striker blocker. You should be able to view this by looking through the small opening in the slide end cap. Get some light shinning into the opening and looking at the upper right side you should be able to see the shiny blocker. With an unloaded, safe gun, pull the trigger fully back and hold it. Rack and release the slide. Slowly release the trigger, watching the blocker. Since the trigger didn't reset on the first "bump", it is likely you will see the blocker drop down and make the "bump" feeling/sound. Then by releasing the trigger more, you will get the actual reset, when the sear loop snaps back under the sear.

Ok so based on my testing, the sear resets after the firing pin safety. I.e. exactly as you noted Bob. And both are clicky. What do I do next?

Another way to test is you can get a pointed object, like a pick or precision screwdriver, into the opening in the slide cap, and hold the blocker up. Repeat with the trigger back. Hold the blocker up as you let the trigger out. See if you only get one reset. Should be only one as you have described. What can you do to fix it. Not much but test to make sure the blocker is moving freely. Remove the slide and push the blocker in and out from the angle the trigger bar tab is pushing on it. Not straight up and down. Push on the front edge, at a 30-45 degree angle, forcing it to move up and down. Make sure it moves freely. If it is moving freely, you have to live with it, or get an Apex blocker, which is more rounded and should eliminate the "bump" feel. You could modify the stock blocker and round it off, but don't take anything off the top or the blocker may not rise high enough to clear the striker, no boom.

I'm over it. Shot 219 rounds today in the cold and wind and zero problems with the gun. Did short stroke the trigger a couple times which were very telling, I was way over anticipating the recoil, being used to 9mm most recently. It's a big change but a welcome one so far. Maybe I'll invest in a conversion barrel sooner than later.
