Never tried Alliant 410. I use 14.0 grains of 296 (or H110, same thing), which is pretty much the standard skeet load.

I also use Winchester 209 primers in AA hulls and STS primers in STS hulls. There's a little difference in the dimensions between the two and I've had loose primer pockets and proud primers mixing them. A friends K-20 set wouldn't always close on .410 AA's with STS primers.

Make sure you have decent wad presure, or you'll have trouble getting a good crimp. Don't expect cases to survive too many loadings, but it's still way cheaper then factory ammo.

Good luck and keep your head down! :)

Exactly correct! It amazes me how the manufactures charge $16.00 for .410 ammo and 12 gauge is $7.00! If I have the cases, I can load 410's for less than $4.00!! Talk about price gouging!

Never tried the Alliant 410 either. Maybe after my supply of Lil Gun runs out but I've had not problems with it so far.
11.5gr,,1/2oz shot, CB clone AA wad, Win209 and WinAA, Rem, or Fed cases (all 2.5" cases). Load all the same on a single stage MEC. The interior volumes are a bit different but I take up that difference with a pinch of cheap Rice Crispys cereal. The Federal cases last the longest,,the Remington give it up the quickest.
AA cases are the old style compression formed not the new style.
Sure is cheap shooting!

Yup, L'il Gun gets my vote too. It goes bang and does well. The 410 is really a lot of fun to shoot....and cheap too when you reload.
Never tried the Alliant 410, although Alliant is an excellent product line and I use a lot of it in handgun loading.
All of my cases are AA/HS CB wad, WW209 and I have had little problem with this load.

Alliant 410 is what I use for 410 skeet loads. 12-1/5 grains seems to be the equal of 14 grains of 296 as far as velocity goes.
