Just added a 411 that I was the final bidder on. Overall the gun seems to be in decent condition and of typical 3rd gen quality. I was a little surprised by the hole in the middle of the hammer. I have not seen this before on other SW pistols that I have looked at. Can anyone tell me if they are familiar with this? It also came with an aftermarket 8 round magazine that has absolutely no identifying marks on it. I loaded it up and was able to hand cycle all 8 rounds without any issues. The only thing that I was peeved about was the clamp marks left on the triggerguard(last pic) by some type of laser/light. This was conveniently omitted from the seller's description and pics. Not the end of the world but somewhat shady in my book. Can anyone suggest a touch up paint for this?

Please feel free to provide any information as I really don't know much about these other than they are part of the SW "value" series.

I hope to get to shoot it this holiday weekend.

I have 2 SW410 pistols, sister to the 411. The hole in the hammer I can't explain. The mag should be 11 rounds if LEO or 10 rounds non LEO. They are fun to shoot with 165 gr bullets. 180 gr is a bit snappy. I used a black sharpie on some minor scratches on my black one and they are not noticeable.

Congrats on your 411. It is a very accurate pistol. I put the curved grips on mine and - lust like the 915 - it fits my hands nearly perfect.

The hole in the hammer might be a custom one, inspired by the 1911 skeletonized hammer. But I'm just assuming....

But the 8rnd magazine I don't understand. Should be 10 or 11, like Flathead already mentioned.

Yeah, the 8 rounder seems wierd. I have a 4006 and wound up buying a number of used mags when they had them on sale at CDNN a few months ago. They were all 11 rounders.

Let's see a picture of this mag. I can tell you though that the mags for the 4006/411/40 caliber full size 3rd Gen pistols are very TIGHT once you get to about 8 rounds, maybe you have to push down a little harder? I don't even load em past 10 sometimes, it's almost impossible to get the 11th in.

It is definately the same size as my other mags but you can see that some sort of limiter is built in about 2/3 the way towardss the base. I thought that this was kinda goofy since 10 rounders are compliant with any restrictions that I'm aware of. On a whim, I tried to see how many 9mm rounds I could stuff in there. It held 12. I pulled out my 5906 and I'll be darned if if didn't pop right in and fit snugly. I was able to hand cycle all 12 rounds X2 without any issues. Go figure.

Very strange, but it looks identical to this: S&W 4006/411 10rd Magazine Blue.

Pro-Mag is notorious for malfunctioning magazines and other oddities and a lot of people tend to stay away from them. I would just use it at the range or toss it to be honest, and order a S&W factory mag. They're about 10 bucks more expensive for a brand new one, or about the same if you find a used / demo specimen.

Yes the ability to load 9mm rounds into a 40cal mag is one of the dirty little secrets the manufacturers don't want you to know, I've done it with SIGs as well as Glocks. I wouldn't count on it all of the time though. :D

I justed picked my "new" 411 yesterday from my FFL. I too noticed the hole in the trigger and was wondering if this was original or an after market trigger.

Lawman90, it does indeed look like that promag. I have read nothing good about those. :eek:I think I'll try it out at the range just to see if its worth keeping strictly for that purpose. Fortunately I already have a number of 4006 factory mags that should work just fine.
Thanks for the heads up.
