Just bought a new 432-3 I'm excited about. However, I've found a lot of reports around the internet about people experiencing light primer strikes. If I do, what's the best course of action? Have a longer firing pin installed? If so which one?

I posted this in another thread, but I'll do it again here to help the OP.
Reports of UCR's going back to the Mother Ship 2 times and still not being fixed. Take care of it yourself and save some aggravation.
Data I have states minimum FP length should be .495" and optimum length is .505". My UCR 632 firing pin measured just under .490" with a pointy profile. FP protrusion from the frame bushing area was minimal at best.
My 632 UCR's fired cases exhibited weak, shallow, pointy indents.
I ordered up both the Apex and Power Custom Extended Firing Pins as I wanted to compare before install. The Apex FP measured .509" and came with a reduced power FP return spring. The Power Custom Pin measures .505" and uses the S&W FP return spring. Both had nice rounded ends.
I tore down the gun and installed the Power Custom. Kept the S&W springs. Firing pin protrusion from the frame is much improved. Did the work Friday. Been 10 degrees and snow since. I'll post up range results and primer pic.

I just received my 432 UC back from the mothership. There was nothing wrong with it, no light primer strikes in over 200 rounds. I always send mine in for an action job at some point. Turnaround was a little over a month. Total was $101 which included shipping both ways. Can't beat that with a stick.
They installed reduced power springs and an extended length firing pin as part of the package. They returned the factory hammer spring, rebound spring, and original firing pin. The new pin definitely protrudes farther than the original which measures 0.4910" with a pointy end. Just wanted to add another data point.

This. Why would you worry about a problem you don't know you have until you shoot it. I might add that as of this date my Davidson's 432-3 has eaten 500+ rounds of handloads and always leaves a good indent on the primer be it CCI, Winchester, or Federal.Shoot first, ask questions later
