432PD question

Hello Everybody: I've just gotten a 432PD. It's very nice and appears to be unfired. I wonder if anyone out there can answer a question I have about the little gun On the left side of the frame, there are four goldish dots, two under the cylinder, another, slightly larger, under cylinder release thumb latch, and a fourth, smaller than any of the others, to the rear of the thumb latch. What is the purpose of these dots? I sort of assume that they're basically cosmetic, but if so, why?

I'm perplexed and curious.

Not cosmetic, 3 of them are the ends of the pivot pins for the hammer, trigger and cylinder bolt, and there is one hidden by the grips that is the retainer pin for the trigger rebound spring, circled in red on the photo of my 432PD innards. I'm not familiar with the smaller one near the thumb latch is for... probably related to the internal lock, as I don't remember seeing it on my pre-lock guns.

They're not visible on the right side of gun because they seat in blind holes on the underside of the side plate.

You have found a real nice piece. Only made for about one year, unknown how many were made. The 32 H&R is nothing to sneeze at, and inherently accurate. The original rubber grips are very nice, but as Gunhacker also shows, wood grips are nice also. Mine are by Culina. Enjoy your 432PD.

Hello again, Thank you both for your replies. Since I can't see any evidence of pins on the left side of the frame, it had not occurred to me that the dots might have to do with pins. And like the two of you, I prefer wood stocks. Within a hour of the little gun's coming home it wore Herrett's Shooting ACE grips. My other two J frames wear Shooting ACE and Sile (spelling? they're Italian in any case) grips respectively. I find I need a covered backstrap to fit my rather long fingers to the trigger. Even on my K frames, I use Herrett's Shooting Masters because of the increased distance for my fingers.
