43c can’t make it threw a full cly.

The trigger is a little rough, but nothing bad with it. It can be worked and seems to be getting better. About 10.5 pull weight by my trigger measure

Rimfire revolvers, especially J-frames, have a pretty hefty trigger pull. Hammerless J-frames take it even a step further, IMO.

Call Smith, speak to the warranty dept & tell them what's going on. They'll send you a return ticket on their dime, it won't cost you anything to ship it. The repair will be free as well.

I would include a written note about what you've done to try to remedy the issue(s) so they know where to start. They will fix it & send it back to you.

I have used their warranty process exactly once & they took excellent care of me. I share your irritation in that my claim was on a Performance Center J-frame. I too expected better, but no company is perfect.

Hope this helps & good luck!

Most 22 revolvers come from the factory with a double action trigger pull of about 15 pounds, +/- a few pounds. Rimfire ammo is hard to reliably ignite which means it has to be hit hard by the hammer. Which means a strong main spring that results in a heavy trigger pull compared to a gun like your 642. I once saw a review of the 317 that listed the trigger pull as 20+ pounds with an asterisk that said it was higher than the reviewers trigger gauge could measure. Heavier DA pull than a Walther PPK.

If the gun was not new I would assume someone put in a lighter main spring to lighten the trigger. Since it is a new gun something else must be wrong. But something is definitely wrong if the trigger is that light. There is no way S&W would knowingly send a 22 revolver out the door with a 10.5 pound trigger pull.

Before you send it back one thing you can check is to see if the strain screw has backed out. Take off the grip and look at the screw that pushes against the main spring. It should be screwed all the way down.

Does honing the cylinders and changing the springs void my #Warranty,most brass sticks hard
I know send original parts back in it if I send it in…idk.
It seems like cleaning the cylinders up a tad and going with a number nine hammer number 11 rebound new firing pin that seems to be what everybody does to fix.
Just do I order wolf kit or a J frame they always exclude the 22 but are the springs the same same number nine same number 11 for a j frame .43c .22 that’s my question
I won’t do that until it’s back from smith if needed ,hitting the ejection rod that hard can’t be good for it..

Spring is a coil spring in j-frame no screw ..and mt trigger gauge is one of the cheaper ones with plastic it could be off.my 38 was 10 the 22 was 10.5-11 so the tool could be off worked fine on my 45 to put a 3 1/2 pound trigger on it. when I was a big boy and can shoot big guns.

Just tested 43c 9.75 -10.1ish four derf.pulls
642 …9.5 with 4 pulls average.

lol I would of been better off buying 700.00 of ammo and train with it…butt and it’s a big butt sorry Michael Obama. I love shooting .22 and to learn double action shooting with it is a heck of a lot of fun and don’t cost the money of 38 specials.

I tried to read this thread, I really did. But lack of spelling and grammar up front basically made the whole thing into a bad joke. I couldn't figure out why he threw it and at a CLY, whatever that is. Was it a bad cly? Did it disrespect you in some way that made you try to throw the 43C through it? Maybe firearms aren't for you if you throw them! Don't know.:rolleyes::p

It took two trips back to the factory for mine, but they finally fixed it right. It used to be very ammo sensitive and even then, it might fail to fire a couple of rounds per cylinder. Since it's return about a year ago, it has been almost 100% reliable and shoots any ammo that I put in it. Give the factory a try and if they fix it right, you will love the gun. I carry mine every day and have complete trust in it.

Mine went back 3 times. It sems to work better, but I only carry it around the property here for the occasional critter or plinking. I'm not as optimistic as you are about it, and won't carry it if I might "need" a gun.
I only have it because I won't sell a gun to someone that I think is defective. Worst firearm I ever purchased, especially at that price.

There’s always a want to be spelling and grammar teacher, sorry that’s never been my strong point. I can run a caterpillar D10 places that will make Billy goats puke. I can run any piece of dirt moving equipment at expert level ,I just can’t spell very well so sorry. CLY equals cylinder I would think somebody is smart as you would’ve figured that one out and I never threw my gun anywhere. And after my bad grammar and bad spelling, we still know that the gun misfires on every cylinder just about with all ammo thanks for your teaching. I’ll be a much better speller. I doubt my grammar will get any better because I don’t have anybody like you to re-teach me the **** I didn’t learn 60 years ago. Even in the army as a medic, I had a hard time because the medical words suck. It was a good thing. I knew my ABCs and could just stop bleeding and didn’t have to spell it huh? Just say sometimes even if you don’t like it, you gotta read between the lines. I wish I was a much better person at spelling and grammar😣” ha not”. I always get myself in trouble with people like you because ,….don’t read it just don’t try to embarrass somebody. And just because of this, I probably will never post on this site again. I’ll read things figure it out on my own without any help. Thanks..for the people who Tried to help thank you very much.
And as a building contractor you would’ve begged for me to be on your job lol just saying even your **** stinks .

I too often struggle with spelling. If you're running windows or microsoft, there should be a squiggly red line under each misspelled word. Click your mouse on the underlined word & corrected options will appear in a drop-down window. Click on your choice of spellings. Easy peasy. ;)

Words mean something. Write (or speak) what you mean, mean what you write (or say). If a client wanted a 5deg slope & you gave him a 10deg slope, would you say "close enough"? Same thing with firearms & most everything else, IMO.

Here's a couple of abbreviations for guns that might help you as well:

cyl = cylinder

bbl = barrel

rds = rounds

f/p/s = feet per second a bullet travels

MSH = main spring housing on a 1911

RGR = recoil guide rod

@#$%^! = when a spring flies across the room, never to be seen again :D

I wanted a 43C when they came out... then I started reading about all of the problems they have. That, as well as all of the QC issues that modern Smiths seem to have, keep me from buying one. Until there is some kind of wholesale change at S&W, I doubt I'll ever buy a new revolver.

I might not be able to spell, but I’m not an idiot and I know what all those things mean.just move on . I also know that I suck at written communication that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to talk. Or I don’t know how to do math. it’s really funny I actually have a high IQ. I just can’t spell word ****. And I use the voice part on the computer and most of the time I spellcheck as best I can so I’m just a piece of **** and it’s all OK. You’re all right and I am wrong and I will sign off and never come back. Have a good good day..

Dude, you should loosen up or you're gonna stroke out one day. Seriously.

No I hold nothing back,let them know what I think when I think it. never gave it second thought. he could’ve read it and laughed and just went on and life but he needed to teach me a lesson. It’s OK I’m all right. I sent my gun in today so I’ll probably see it in eight weeks. I hope ,we’ll see if the 43c-gods are with me.
I saw a paragraph where all of the words were misspelled, but you could read the whole thing. It blew me away it was.cool “get my drift” I do try to do it right I mean, I really don’t like looking like an idiot so I do try sometimes it just doesn’t work.

Please let us know if your gun was repaired properly. There have been a lot of posts here lately about S&W customer service or the lack there of. And please keep posting as the majority of people on here are genuinely knowledgeable and helpful.

Mine had to go back twice, but it’s fine now. Don’t give up.

Today is Xmas ,let’s hope all works . I can shoot in my yard so as soon as I get it and the fed. Truck is far enough away it won’t scare him. I’ll fire it up ..so we’ll know today . bought some stingers ,target 1250fps copper plated ,some punch.blazer golden boys, cci velocitors ,thinking it’s gonna cost more but only running plated or coated , my gun was already starting to get lead buildup at the barrel maybe they fixed that.idk but thinking on getting a model 63 3 inch for planking around the yard and saving the 43C for carry and conceal and practice for the 642. I’ve lost all trust in the aluminum 22 for planking and shooting 200 round of ammo. Maybe my mind will be changed this afternoon I don’t know.

Where’s the fed x man ……they said 950 and it’s 10:04 …lol
