44 Magnum Reloading Question

Took my 44 mag CVA Scout out yesterday and shot some handloads - Hornady 240 grain XTP with 2400 powder. 3 shots touching at 50 yards, problem solved! As many have stated in this thread the velocity with the Berry's bullets and the Unique powder was just too slow.

Thanks for the comments!

I dont get the discrepancy in plated bullet use. Granted I havent used alot of them but I did buy 1000 158gr flatpoint bullets from Berrys, their thick plated ones, and was easily able to work up a few really nice loads with them. Ive also used some of their 9mm bullets and again, no issues. Now I did once buy some 240gr plated bullets from some company called PowerBond and those things were awful. They would tumble like tumbleweeds no matter. Terrible accuracy.
Plated bullets arent something I buy alot of but sometimes when I find a deal or just need something different for range ammo I will because so far Ive had ok luck with them.
OP, maybe try Berrys thick plate bullets and see how they work for you. The TP bullets are rated for a higher velocity than their regular line.
