When i go to the range, i usually start off with 6-12 full magnum loads, then about 18-24 rounds of Speer Shortbarrel mag loads (very low recoil!); then (and this is my question), i like to finish up with a lot of .44 special rounds. What do you all think is the best .44 special round to limit (notice, i didn't "eliminate") leading. Is there a "best" economical .44 special round out there which limits lead deposits? Thanks very much for your help on this.

I see no reason to think you will get any leading at all from .44 Special ammo. They are usually made of the correct lead hardness for the velocity they will shoot. It's just like shooting .38 Special ammo. I never get leading from factory or my reloads when shooting lead .38's.

My .44 Special had extreme leading with whatever lead bullet I used, either from factory ammunition or handloaded ammunition. Then I switched to copper plated bullets for my handloads, and the leading disappeared. I still get leading from the factory ammunition, but I use handloads in about about 90% of my shooting.

Hunting Shack makes a good 240gr SWC load. Not as hard cast as Buffalo Bore, but not soft lead either.
