44 spl roll call

The 44 spl round is a great round, similar to the 45 acp. A big fat bullet moving slow and very manageable recoil. I have several that I keep in my range rotation.

24-6:

I saw a 24-6 in a now defunct shop about a year ago in 45ACP. He was asking too much money for me, but if it were a 44sp I likely would have jumped, lock notwithstanding.

All the rest you posted are great too.

Does twenty-two .44 Specials seem obsessive? Two TL's, four 2nd Model, seven 3rd Model, five 4th Model (including a Model 21 no dash), a 624, and three 38/44's converted to .44 Special. Five are sitting pretty in their original or correct boxes, most are shooters, couple are well-used but reliable rescue shooters.

A few favorites:

Ahhh man, you're forcing me to post this again...

And while I am more than partial to S&W's, I do color "outside the lines" occasionally...

No finer cartridge.

I really like that conversion.

There are very nice firearms in this thread. I've only got one, a 4th model shipped in 1955.

Only have five, a S&W M24 Lew Horton (3”), M24 (6.5”), M21-4 Thunder Ranch, a Ruger New Vaquero (4-3/4”), and a Charter Arms Classic (all purchased new). Probably the most underrated cartridge out there.

I have three, not all Smiths. I have a 2nd .44 Hand Ejector, 100 years old last September, a Ruger GP100 .44, and a Vaquero .44 Sheriff's. The .44spl is what it is - special. Soft shooting for a big bore, and crazy accurate with the right handloads.
