Who are you...

Your post is bordering on insulting if not actually insulting. Who are you to think you know what's best for me?

>>> I think he is somebody who knows what he is talking about. I favor IMR 3031 in .45-70 with a 405 gr bullet, also. If you are going to ask for reloading advise on a public forum, you better learn to receive input (when its well reasoned) in a hospitable manner. What, are you afraid of learning something?

It's not what you say, it's how you say it. For example, your post was fine up until the point you threw in the, "What, are you afraid of learning something" comment. My reply to you both is quite hospitable.

I'm guessing you didn't read my entire OP since you decided to go at me for having the nerve to ask fellow reloaders what their Pet Loads are using powder I have available to me right now.

ArchAngel,
I don't own a trapdoor 45-70 (yet), but my Marlin 1895 Cowboy does really well with my 405 gr. cast bullet or the LaserCast bullet with 28.5 grs. of XMP 5744, CCI 200 primer in Remington brass. Velocity = 1,425 fps.
My Shiloh Sharps is only fed FFg Black and 520 gr. RN Government bullets.
Hope this helps.
