I would love to see S&W make a 5 shot .45 ACP revolver somewhere near the size of a J frame. 2 1/2 bbl., and have the cases headspace on the rim with the extractor similar to the old 9mm so moon clips wouldn't be needed.
What I would want to wish for is something built on the K-frame with a round butt and a three inch barrel. Not unlike the 3” Mod-13 I had carried. A five shot .45 ACP revolver by Smith and Wesson will just be the ticket. Moving up my wish list should be a 6 shot .45 ACP with a 5” bbl on an L-frame.
THe .45 ACP diameter case doesn't fit the L-frame by the time you get enough cylinder wall between the case and the outside of the cylinder the middle is squeezed so much there's no room for the extractor. The K and
J frames are smaller yet, it's a no go
just get a 325 Nightguard & if you don't care for moon clips, use the .45 Auto RIm cartridge. nice 28 oz.2 1/2" Bbl.
