Clays is a good powder for target loads with those bullets. The pressure curve is SUPER STEEP though so don't over charge them.

Clays is a "clean" powder, using it with lead bullets negates any benefit though! ;)

I use 4.2grs Clays with a 200gr LSWC 1.230"OL, it runs right at 850fps in my 5" guns. That one makes major and I drop down to 3.8grs for Bullseye use which groups good out of my guns.

I've been using 3.7 of Clays for bullseye behind various 200 gr swc bullets with good results. My favorite bullet with this charge is the Lyman 452460.

It may be the most difficult to get to run in the average 1911, mostly because of all the bad advice running around about seating depth. Once I seated them out so the corner of the SWC was the same length as the ogive on the 230gr RN, they ran like a dream. Seating them deeper gave me feeding problems.
HP38, Unique, any of a dozen powders work.

Anyone using clays in 200 LSWC in 45 acp? If so how well does it work for you?

Clays is a nice clean burning powder for mild loads in 45 ACP. When I used 200 gr. LSWC's for bullseye pistol matches I found 3.6 gr. to provide a mild accurate load (ca. 720 fps) with the Speer 200gr. LCWC.

I use 4.2 grains of clays with a 200 grain semi wadcutter seated to 1.245 inches overall length. Average velocity is 875 FPS. Power factor of 175. I use this load in USPSA single stack.

hi, i find 4.4 grains of GM3, with a lead 200 grain semi wad cutter is a great combination, i also find by using extra lube, a tumble of liquid alox thinned 50/50 with white spirit adds up to an extremly good target load in my 80 series colt government stainless and feeds flawlessly.the reason i use the extra lube is, i was getting a little leading at the front of the chamber ,this little tumble of alox completely stopped the lead from forming .

Love the stuff! 4 .0 gr of clays behind a 200gr RNFP lead bullet is my "do all" load for my 1911's and 625. Clean, accurate, reliable, shoots POA and has low-moderate recoil.
