.45 Colt in 3rd Generation SAA

Looking for some higher power 250 gr cast bullet .45 Colt loads for carry in Wyoming and Montana that are safe in my late 3rd Generation Colt SAA revolvers. I'm not sure the loads given for the S & W 25-3 in the Linebaugh article in handloads.com using the 260 and 310 gr cast bullets would be appropriate in the Colts...opinions?

RCBS #45-255KT with 20.0 grains IMR-4227 is what I have used a lot.

Have used on mountain lion, whitetail deer, and wild hogs with good results.

Look at the April 07 issue of Handloader - it has what may well be the solution to what you are looking for.

I use the same loads in my 25 and my Marlin 1894 and can't say enough good about them.

Shot a doe last year at about 80 yards just behind left shoulder - bullet exited the right and she fell dead in her tracks.
