457 and CS40 Recoil Guide Rod and Spring Question

I am confused about the recoil spring and guide rod configurations of 2 pistols - I know the 4513TSW and late 4013 had an inner and outer recoil spring on smaller diameter recoil guide rod.

I seem to recall a thread about plastic guide rods - cant recall if it was Value Line or the Chiefs Special series (or maybe both?).

My questions pertain specifically to a CS40 I just purchased (waiting for it to arrive so I cant check) and a 457 I am looking at possibly purchasing (on line so I cant check for myself).

The 457 seems to have a single recoil spring unlike its sister 4513TSW which I believe is the same size pistol - and it appears the rod may be plastic. Assuming its plastic, can I replace it with a metal rod from 4513TSW or is the 457 a single spring configuration with larger diameter guide rod (if so, is there a metal alternate)?

Similar question for the CS40 - single or double recoil spring and plastic or metal guide rod (and if plastic, is there a metal replacement option)?

Thanks in advance, I know there are some experts out there that can answer these questions.
Best, ACEd

I think the early 457 had the plastic guide rod and single spring.
Mine came with a metal guide rod and dual springs like the 4513TSW I had.
The 457 parts kit I purchased came with the metal guide rod and dual springs also.

I bet that makes replacement recoil
springs for CS40 non existent.

Don’t give up.

Every once in a while Midway has them, (or at least they have in the very recent past.) The last time not too long ago I got “enough” without being a hoarder and the springs were reasonably priced.

Get in a serious pinch let me know.

“ACEd”, in regards to your question I’m not sure why the image of the package I posted has inner printed on it. They are not even close to any inner double spring ones I have.

This image shows, (top to bottom,) a CS9, CS40, CS45 and 457. The CS40/45 springs are also identical and perfect in my 3 1/4” 945. The CS9’s guide rod is obviously shorter and yes the 457 has an inner and outer spring like it’s other close examples. All are metal metal rods with plastic plungers.

*Edit to note.* Just went through all my new springs and found more for the CS9’s. They are shorter than the CS40 and 45 ones I posted before. Hmmm, now I have a CS spring question.
