What FPS does a .45acp HP need to travel for expansion?

Which one? They do vary by construction and weight.
Within reason the major brands would load a bullet that'll expand at normal[for the cartridge velocities]. In this case a 5" model 1911 type pistol most likely.
Where you could get in to issues of weak expansion would be in short barrel applications - IMO.

I am shooting Remington 185gr. JHP +P in my S&W 4516 and they are chronographing at 1068 fps and I am getting excellent penetration and expansion.. I like the 185 gr because I am not planning on shooting through car doors...
